ABOUT
About this spot
Located in Kashima, Saga Prefecture, Yutoku Inari Shrine is one of Japan's Three Great Inari Shrines and a leading power spot of Kyushu, welcoming some three million worshippers a year. What first astonishes visitors is the magnificent vermilion-lacquered shrine complex rising against a lush green hillside. Its beauty has earned it the name "Chinzei Nikko" (the Nikko of Kyushu), and every corner of its gorgeous tower gate and main hall decorations makes a picture. Known for blessings of business prosperity, household fortune, and traffic safety, it has also become hugely popular on social media in recent years for its photogenic views. The route continuing up the mountain path from the main hall to the inner shrine is a little demanding, but the panoramic view of the Ariake Sea from the top is a spectacular reward that makes you forget your fatigue. Cherry blossoms and azaleas color the grounds in spring and vivid autumn leaves in fall, so every season offers a different charm. A nostalgic shopping street lines the approach, and strolling while enjoying the local specialty "Inari yokan" is part of the fun. Whether you come for a family outing, a drive with friends, or a solo refresh, it is a place that leaves a lasting memory in any situation.
