ABOUT

About this spot

Standing on Nakase, an island at the mouth of the old Kitakami River in Ishinomaki, Miyagi, the Ishinomori Manga Museum is a facility where you can experience the precious original drawings and the world of works by manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori. Its unique spaceship-shaped exterior is based on a concept devised by Ishinomori himself. Inside, in addition to exhibits of masterpieces such as "Cyborg 009" and "Kamen Rider," there are plenty of attraction-style exhibits packed with gimmicks that people of all generations can enjoy. A library and an anime-making experience corner present the appeal of manga from many angles. The route from Ishinomaki Station to the museum is called the "Ishinomaki Manga Road," with bronze statues of characters placed throughout, making the walk part of the fun. A landmark of Ishinomaki, it is ideal for manga fans, families, couples and solo travelers.
