ABOUT
About this spot
Yushien, on Daikonshima Island in Shimane Prefecture, is one of the largest Japanese stroll gardens with a pond in the San'in region, covering about 10,000 tsubo. The top highlight is its large peony blooms, which flower all year round. Around Golden Week especially, the "30,000-bloom pond peonies," which cover the entire pond with peony flowers, are stunningly beautiful and a very popular photo spot. The garden shows a different face whenever you visit: cherry blossoms in spring, hydrangeas in summer, autumn leaves in autumn, and winter peonies in winter. In recent years, it has also offered the San'in region's largest illumination using the latest technology and fantastical mist effects, with touches to be enjoyed by people of all ages. The restaurants and cafe also serve dishes made with Korean ginseng, a specialty of Daikonshima, so you can spend a luxurious moment while viewing the beautiful garden. It is a recommended spot to feel Japanese beauty with all five senses, whether on a solo stroll, a family trip, or a date.
