ABOUT

About this spot

Inasa-no-hama is a special place in Izumo City, Shimane Prefecture, where myth and spectacular scenery meet. Known as the setting of the "Kuniyuzuri" myth in the Kojiki, it is said that in "Kamiarizuki," the tenth month of the old calendar, the eight million gods of Japan come ashore from this beach. "Benten Island," standing alone on the sand, once stood in the sea, but now you can walk across the sand to approach it, and its divine form has become the symbol of the beach. The recommended time is dusk in particular. Selected as one of "Japan's Top 100 Beaches," the sight of the sun sinking into the horizon and dyeing sky and sea golden is breathtakingly beautiful. Sunset photos with Benten Island in the background are also very popular as a photo spot. In addition, many worshippers visit because of the custom of collecting sand from this beach before visiting Izumo Taisha and exchanging it for the sand of "Soga no Yashiro" in the Izumo Taisha grounds. It is a famous Izumo site that we hope visitors on trips with friends, solo trips, or weekend drives who want to forget everyday life and feel mysterious power will experience.
