Oirase Stream, one of Aomori's signature scenic spots, is a clear stream of about 14 km running from Nenokuchi at Lake Towada to Yakeyama. A road and a walking path run in parallel along the stream, so a big appeal is that you can easily enjoy walking at a pace that suits your fitness level. As soon as you step in, you are met with the scent of the deep forest, refreshing murmuring water, and a beautiful world of moss. Highlights include many spots where you can feel the power of flowing water, such as "Ashura no Nagare" and "Choshi Otaki." The stream is picture-perfect everywhere, especially in May and June when the fresh greenery is dazzling, and during the autumn foliage season when it is wrapped in fiery color.
