ABOUT

About Hiroshima

Hiroshima Prefecture is a place where diverse attractions intersect, starting from two of Japan's proud World Heritage sites. In terms of history, there are the "Atomic Bomb Dome," which conveys the preciousness of peace, and "Itsukushima Shrine," whose vermilion great torii gate floating in the sea is mystical, and both draw many people from Japan and abroad. Miyajima in particular is beautiful for scenery that changes with the ebb and flow of the tide, truly a spectacular sight to see once in a lifetime. Turning to nature, the Seto Inland Sea, renowned for its scattered islands, spreads out. On the "Shimanami Kaido," known as a cyclists' paradise, you can spend a luxurious time island-hopping while feeling the sea breeze. In the north, the rich greenery of the Chugoku Mountains spreads out, and you can enjoy scenery of every season. Food, a highlight of travel, is not to be missed either. Hiroshima's soul food "okonomiyaki" is characterized by a layered style packed with noodles and vegetables, and a meal at Okonomimura, which originated from food stalls, will become an unforgettable memory. In addition, the large "oysters" from the prefecture that leads Japan in production, and Miyajima's specialty "momiji manju," are among the gourmet delights nurtured by the rich climate that continue to captivate visitors.
