ABOUT
About this spot
Jozenji-dori is where you can best feel why Sendai is called the "City of Trees." In the center of the road is a promenade surrounded by rows of zelkova trees, with bronze statues such as Emilio Greco's "Summer Memories" scattered along it, creating an outdoor-museum atmosphere. Its appearance in every season is also charming: a tunnel of fresh green in summer, autumn leaves coloring the city in fall, and in winter it becomes the stage of the "SENDAI Pageant of Starlight," where hundreds of thousands of LEDs shine, creating a magical scene. On weekends, events such as the "Jozenji Street Jazz Festival" are held, filling the area with energy. With many stylish cafes and restaurants nearby, it is perfect for lunch or a date with friends, or a quiet solo walk with a coffee. A must-visit when sightseeing in Sendai, it serves as a place of relaxation for the citizens.
